Marcello Mastroianni - All the Handsome
My gorgeous friend contacted me and said "I need you to paint me a beautiful, handsome man." Oh go on then, twist my arm.
My friend (and now client!) is of Italian heritage, she is classy and sophisticated, loves travel, old movies, and all things Italian. I had recently just watched one of my favourite films La Dolce Vita... and that was my answer... I shall paint the very beautiful and very handsome Marcello Mastroianni.
Not only a brilliant award winning actor, Marcello also received multiple civil honours, including the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, the highest-ranking knighthood of the country.
I thought black and white tones were perfect to capture the light, beauty and elegance of the handsome Marcello. My friend was delighted. She got her man!
Marcello Mastroianni in all his handsomeness!
La Dolce Vita, one of my favourite films and this film poster was part of the inspiration for the commission.
Those eyes! They follow you around the room. Amore Mio!
A scene form the film, Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg in the Trevi Fountain. What a stunning couple.
I love the location of this painting. So good, I just had to show it twice!
